The first step is figuring out what the issues really are, and that isn’t always as obvious as it seems. The problems we’re best at solving are the hard ones — where there’s plenty of uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity.

Once we’ve figured out the problems and what the options might be, we build consensus on the right way forward. Sometimes that’s about identifying the right solution, other times it’s about figuring out where we'll get the funding, and in many cases it’s helping a diverse group of people agree to move forward together.

Much of what we do is grounded in solid economic theory and sophisticated wellbeing analysis. We’re the country’s leading practitioners in using the Four Wellbeings to make rational, balanced, and informed decisions. Plus we’re highly skilled in making sure the real-word benefits line up with the original intentions of the initiatives.
